The SOHS Girls Cross Country Team won State and our own Jessie Murner finished first, the SOHS Boys Cross Country Team placed third at State and Jacob Law finished first in State as well! This is a HUGE success for the team and for South!
The following students won the local PTSA's Reflections Art program. Their work will compete at the District level--winners to be announced in February. CONGRATULATIONS to members of the choir who auditioned for the Kentucky Music Educators All-State Chorus. 18 students from SOHS have been selected for this prestigious honor. We're proud to announce that Ms. Diane Poe was selected by her peers as Teacher of the Year 2008 at SOHS. She is the Lead Teacher for the Career and Technical Education Department.
Congrats to Coach Wright (Girl's Basketball) and Coach Simpson (Boy's Basketball) named regional coaches of the year by their peers.
SOHS Science teacher, Mr. Ed Farrar, is the High School Teacher of the Year for Kentucky.

Also congratulations to the Newspaper and Broadcast Journalism Programs at SOHS. They both won second place in general excellence at the state 2007-08 KY HS Journalism contest . Click here for a list of those who won print awards.
2008 grad Jennifer Morgan was Third Place winner in the Kentucky English Speaking Union Competition Senior Division.
2008 graduate Lauren Jones was selected as to the Kentucky All-Stars girls’ basketball team, which defeated the Indiana All-Star team both games for the first time in several years. She is now attending Austin Peay University on a basketball scholarship. Amber Conniff, 2008 grad, is now attending and playing at Spalding University.
