PTSA Programs

The PTSA is an important partner in the SOHS school community. It is an avenue for all stakeholders in the education of our students to participate in improving our school. Our group is affiliated with the national Parent Teacher Association organization. The SOHS PTSA helps SOHS with:

• Registration and school open houses
• The SOHS PTSA Newsletter - Deadline is 25th of the month ...info. can be sent to Ms. Adell or Chris Taylor
• Promoting substance abuse awareness program
• Staging a student talent "extravaganza"
• School beautification projects
• Making donations to various school projects
• Special meals and events in support of the SOHS staff
• Scholarships through Dollars for Scholars
• Student directory
• College Night Programs for students and parents

They also sponsor a number of activities to support the school including:

The SOHS PTSA Newsletter is a tool to communicate school information, tips and calendar items to all SOHS families. Items for the newsletter can be left in the newsletter submission mailbox in the SOHS office. This comes out via eNews, too. Contact Nancy Palmquist if you want this delivered via email.

The College Center at SOHS is a joint effort between the Library Media Center staff, Guidance staff, and the Academic and Guidance committee of the PTSA. ALSO-The PTSA hosts meetings about the college selection and application process throughout the year. For more information on these College Night programs contact Pamela Brown.

The PTSA sells Kroger gift cards for $5.00. The re-useable card will buy $5.00 worth of groceries and then you can add more money to the card at the Checkout/ Service Center each time before you shop. SOHS receives 4% of all purchases using these cards. Contact the school office or 1st Vice President Belynda Perry for more information.

Target Visa card will also donate 1% of your purchase amount. Call 1-800-316-6142 and make SOHS your school of choice.
